Penetangore in Sarnia

The Penetangore Pipe Band provides advanced instruction in bag pipes and drums for musicians in the Grey-Bruce-Huron area of Ontario, Canada and beyond.

Formed in 2001, Penetangore is registered as a not-for-profit corporation. Its purpose is to enhance the art form of pipes and drums by sustaining an organization that can successfully compete at the North American Championship Highland Games and the World Championship Highland Games.

Named after a river that is not far from where the band practices, Penetangore is pronounced Pen-ne-tang-gore. It is believed to originate from an Ojibwa word that Scottish settlers understood to mean “river with sand on one side.”
