Membership in the Penetangore Pipe Band is open to all with a demonstrated ability to play bag pipes or drums and a willingness to improve. Band uniforms are issued when new players are deemed ready to perform at events and competitions.
For competition, pipe bands are categorized from Grade 5 entry-level to Grade 1 highest-level. To date, Penetangore has fielded groups in competitions at recognized Grade 5, 4 and 3 levels. In 2010, Penetangore is competing with Grade 4 and Grade 2 bands.
